How I see it

How I see it

We all sit waiting, tense.
Every so often a name gets called out.
Hurriedly, they get up,
Able to only take one person with them.
Some have no one.

The white lights are harsh,
The air conditioning is a bit nippy,
but perfect at the same time.
A TV shows a doctor talking to patients.
If it's meant to reassure us, it doesn't work.

That's one way of looking at it.
But it's not how I see it.

We all sit waiting, filled with hope and trust.
Everyone has someone with them,
Someone who cares for and loves them.
People on their phones, messaging back home,
To the people who care but couldn't make it.

Everyone smiles at each other,
Trying to spread joy to suffering people.
In times of need, we come together.
We are still human. We still care.
We still love.

That's how I see it.
