I Wonder
I Wonder
Not total silence though,
Phones ring, hushed voices worriedly speak.
Go in another door - two rows of beds,
blue sheets, some with white curtains drawn across.
blue sheets, some with white curtains drawn across.
More serious faces.
Families gathered around beds.
You wonder what happened.
How long it will take for them to be fine,
Will they ever be fine?
You wonder what they wonder about.
Does it hurt? To be in a bed, helpless?
Not physically, but mentally.
Does it hurt? Knowing that this may be the end?
Does it hurt? Knowing that you'll get out fine,
but the person next to you may be close to the end?
I wonder.
